Redwood Lodge Arabians was founded by Sue Patrick in 1982 with its origins set on 120 picturesque acres at Jimboomba in Queensland, Australia. The first Arabian horses were predominately Crabbet bloodlines and they lived alongside the farms Warmblood breeding programme.

In no time at all the charismatic temperament of the Arabians captivated Sue, and the decision was made to disperse the Warmblood herd and establish a small, but elite group of purebred Arabian horses.

Sue’s dedication to the fulfilment of her dreams knew no bounds, and whilst on a vacation in the USA with her husband, Trevor and son Steve, Sue visited the magnificent stallion EL SHAKLAN (by Shaker El Masri) and his legendary Dam ESTOPA (Tabal x Uyaima), the reigning Queen at Om El Arab Farm, and from that moment Sue realised that horses with the ‘Golden Cross’ influence exhibited the characteristics that she most admired, and thus commenced the obsession in acquiring and breeding purebred Arabian horses of these bloodlines.

So began an incredible journey that continues to excite Arabian horse enthusiasts to this day, a combination of a breeding programme of excellence and outstanding show ring successes that have been prolific in so many countries around the world.
The foundation mares remain the cornerstone and key to the extraordinary success of Redwood Lodge with the Matriarch being the only straight Spanish daughter of Estopa, Malikah Estopa by An Malik, a mare of exceptional quality and temperament. Others in the foundation group included CAMBRIAA (El Shaklan x Zafiraa by Mohssen), OM EL AMIRA ESTOPA (Sanadik El Shaklan x Bint Estopa) and the El Shaklan daughter BINT MOHENA, a full sister to Sanadik El Shaklan.

Selecting quality stallions to compliment these extraordinary mares required meticulous planning and research and the importation from USA of GG Magnetism (An Malik x cc Montessa) the El Shaklan son Sterling Shaklan, and the boldly beautiful Om EL Abadan (Carmargue x Bint Estopa), proved to be a vindication of the search to compliment the mares.

The Redwood Lodge programme has continued to provide clients throughout the world with the satisfaction of success both in the continuance of the breeding programme and in the international show arena with championships in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Middle East, New Zealand and Australia.

The pinnacle of success of the Redwood Lodge breeding programme came with the crowning of Espano Estopa (Om EL Abadan x Malikah Estopa) as World Champion Junior Stallion at the Salon du Cheval in Paris, the same year as being crowned Junior Champion stallion at The All Nations Cup, Aachen.

Only the previous year Espano Estopa’s sire Om El Abadan was awarded World Champion Reserve Stallion in Paris and subsequently sold on to Saudi Arabia where he was awarded Supreme Champion at their National Champion show.

Further significant achievements have been bestowed on offspring of the Redwood Lodge breeding programme, including World Champion Reserve award to RL Romantik (Espano Estopa x Cambriaa) and top ten World Champion awards to RL Antiguaa (Espano Estopa x Cambriaa) RL Essine (GG Magnetism x Om El Amira Estopa) and RL Artique (Al Aadeed Al Shaqab x RL Romantik)

The excellence continues.........

Redwood Lodge Arabians established a world class breeding facility in France July 2006 on the stunningly beautiful 55 acre 16th Century Chateau de la Bernardiere, and under the expert management of Steve Patrick and his team they continue the dedication of producing world class purebred Arabians with super conformation, movement and temperament.

The stallion roster is based on the young stallions RL Artique (Al Aadeed Al Shaqab x RL Romantik) and RL Maalik Shah (Al Aadeed x Malikah Estopa) and the excellence continues and improves as every year passes.

Redwood Lodge Arabians and the Patrick Family hope that you enjoy our horses and we welcome visitors to the farm at any time by appointment, to share with us the beauty of the Arabian horse.
